I'm having some major tomato issues in my garden this year. What had been a forest of thriving plants in July is not so thriving right this minute. The romas are ripening but the vines are just about dead. And there is this one plant that I believe is a roma, but it's producing tomatoes that are abouot 10 times as large as the others.
I really believe that those in the top row are what romas really should look like and I just happen to grow them smaller in my own garden. I love the shape and texture of these bigger romas. Sadly, so does something else, and I'm not happy to share these tomatoes with a gnawing critter.
But, that's a story for a different post. One where I also share the woes of my heirlooms. Tomatoes, of course, not my real heirlooms.
So, roma? Or roma? What do you think.
Hm, that is the question, I think roma!
ReplyDeleteThanks for clarifying exactly what you meant by heirlooms ;) I'm just impressed that you garden at all--I fun in fear of the garden and leave it to my husband.
ReplyDeleteI grew roma one year and all the tomatoes in the garden turned out that shape and size. Someone told me the roots gets tangled but I've never heard that anywhere else.
